Missing top side cover mounting pegs are a real problem on these Ascots. I have created these mounts and they work very well.

They all utilize 2- N50 rare earth magnets. One magnet floats (swivels) on the bracket and the other sticks to the back of the side cover with industrial double sided tape. If you've ever stuck 2- N50 rare earth magnets together you know how hard it is to pull them apart. Zip ties look bad and require drilling a hole in your cover and hook & loop isn't reliable. Even if your top mounting pegs are intact, you will.
